I don’t normally do a Wordless Wednesday post, but I thought I’d do it today.
I don’t seem to be very good at the wordless part. The ice crystals in the garden where huge this morning. It is so beautiful.

We got all the new slerks back to the house and settled in. The next day it was time to get started on the project with the hollow logs. We made a planter out of them. First the logs were cut to the length that we wanted. The slerks helped out with the measuring, but I was busy doing something else, so I wasn’t there to take photos.
The slerks all lined up on the porch rail, ready to help out.
I found a good spot for the logs, and the slerks helped me arrange them in an attractive fashion.
My father in law has a pile of great soil to use in garden projects. We were going to need some.
It is really difficult to help with the shoveling when you are as small as a slerk, but they sure tried to help.
This slerk is helping to push the wheel barrow around to where the logs were.
Even though they were really to small to help, they sure gave it their best shot. The logs were filled most of the way with this soil.
The slerks were able to help add some compost and mix it in to the top six inches or so.
Please join us on Monday when the slerks help plant beautiful things in the new log planter.

I know that many of us in North America are really ready for spring(I know some already have it, but it’s been a long winter for many of us) I thought that I would share some photos of spring here at Woodland Whimsy. It is a glorious, and all too brief where I live, season.
I grew this from a tiny seedling.
This slerk loves getting his photo taken.
You see? Here he is again.
It was a bit early for the Anemones to be open. They wait for it to be a bit warmer.
This one is very fragrant.
I love Iris. I have many varieties in my yard. It gives me a long Iris bloom time.
I really hope that we don’t get another hard freeze. We will have more frost, but the harder it is the more likely it is to ruin my lilac blooms.
I hope you have enjoyed this little mini tour of my spring garden.
