I’d like to introduce you to Wilma. She loves to frolic in the woods near Woodland Whimsy. She has a smile and a happy thought for everyone she meets.

Fungus Friday
Posted in Uncategorized on February 6, 2015| 1 Comment »
Happy Friday! Today is also Tiara Day, so if you have one, get it out and wear it. My husband took today off so we can spend the day together. So I am going to have a fantastic day! I hope that you are as well.
Cute little mushrooms growing up on a fallen tree. These were spotted on our hike to the cabin where my in laws honey mooned last October. It was really neat to see the cabin and all the repairs that had been made over the summer. It was while our grandsons were staying with us. We packed them in.
They aren’t the best pictures, as they were taken while we were actually moving, but the boys had a blast on the hike.
Little Chair

I am in the process of making a little chair to use for display purposes. I’ll be adding a paint wash to age the cuts on the twigs. I am trying to decide how best to embellish it. Please let me know if you have any ideas for that.
New Family Member

We are so excited to have a new member of our family here at Woodland Whimsy. Keeta came to live with us a bit over two weeks ago.
Keeta has just turned six months old. She is a German Shepard/Catahoula mix.
She is pretty big. She already weighs over fifty pound and is quite tall.
The other dogs have gotten used to her. Evelyn(my daughter’s dog who is living with us temporarily) will play with her. Keterlyn will sleep with her. Heinrich ignores her.Which is what he does with things he doesn’t really approve of, but knows he has to deal with because they belong to us.
Keeta is a real sweetie, but dealing with a puppy, especially a large puppy, is something we have to remember how to do properly. Puppies chew, and tall puppies can get things from places you think are out of reach.
This used to be Elvin. You have met him here on the blog before, and I still have two other adventures to write about him. I’m not sure how she managed to get him, since he was up high in a room she wasn’t supposed to be able to access, but get him she did. I’m hoping that he can be cleaned up and repaired, but I’m not sure that it is possible. I lost a couple of felted mice as well, but I’m doing better with remembering how very tall she is.
She really is a wonderful dog. My pillows seem to be where she wants to hang out. She tends to jump up there as soon as I move.
We are so happy with our new addition(this photo is when she first came home, I removed that collar pretty promptly). We are her fourth home, including the one she was born in that she left at five week(sad). We are glad to be able to offer her a home where she will be loved and cared for always, not just until someone decides she is too much trouble.
Elvin Picks Oranges

My best friend and I went on a long girls weekend of shenanigans. Elvin came a long with us. Not everything we did was shenanigans though. We stayed with some lovely friends on Thursday night. They had an orange tree out back and told us we were welcome to have some oranges.
Elvin scrambled right up the tree to check them out.
“The oranges smell so good!” Elvin exclaimed. “I can’t wait to eat them.”
Elvin hopped into the fruit picker so he could get some of the oranges that were up high.
“This is the perfect orange. I will have it for breakfast.” he declared.
Elvin took a rest in the bag of oranges after we were done picking them. He was so happy to have so much fresh, yummy, fruit.
If you like Elvin, you can see more of my work on my facebook page or my website.
Busy, busy

It has been very busy this week at Woodland Whimsy. Everything has been counted and recorded in a new spread sheet. One of our goals for the year is to keep better records. I have been felting away and my husband has made a couple of new pieces to use in our display.
If you have ever seen Walter in person, he was always leaning or wrapped around something. He spent his public life looking quite tipsy. No more! Walter has a new stand that lets him show what a sober guy he really is.
This photo is from yesterday. Three mushrooms and a tiny terrarium finished. Betty Goblin Baby’s head is almost finished. Poor Betty has been a work in progress for quite some time. She is glad to see that her completion is in sight. See that cute little driftwood bench? My husband made that for me to use in my display at shows.
Four more mushrooms completed. Betty has a body and a new gronk(who has also been a work in progress for a while) is getting some work done. It feels good to be busy and productive. I’d best get back to work, Betty would really like to have some arms, legs, and ears.
Back to Normal

Good Morning! Things should be getting back to normal here. The holidays and two huge sewing projects have kept me very busy. I hope you will take a look and let me know what you think of my outfits.
This is the dress I made for The Great Dicken’s Christmas Faire.
I made this dress for Western Twelfth Night. Two ambitious outfits like this in five weeks was a wee bit insane, but I am happy with them.
Convolution-Mask Making Workshop

I had the wonderful experience of attending Convolution in Burlingame this past weekend. It is a second year convention and it was incredible. There were a couple of bobbles at the beginning, I have no doubt that there will be fewer next year. The guest list was incredible: Brian, Wendy, and Toby Froud; Richard and Wendy Pini, Richard Kadrey, Ivan Van Norman, Tricky Pixy, M. Todd Gallowglas, and way too many more to list. I was fortunate to be able to take both of the workshops offered by the Frouds. The mask making workshop was on Friday afternoon. It was listed as a workshop led by Toby, but all three of them were there teaching us how to make beautiful masks. It was incredible. I thought I would share a photo of the masks that we all made.
I was able to wear my mask to the Goblin Ball on Saturday night. I think it went with my costume pretty well.
I am already registered for next year’s convention. Tanya Huff is one of the guests of honor. The only thing up for Convolution 2014 is registration, but you should go check out what happened this year.
