Happy Friday! We are well into the new year. My life has settled down a bit, so it’s back to blogging for me.

This soon to be big guy was just pushing up out of the soil when I found him. It looks like a critter had already had a little bit of a snack off of the side.

The Snottlings are really feeling the holiday spirit this year. They insisted that they be able to dress for the occasion.

I could only get two of them to be still long enough for a photo. It doesn’t matter that it is cold outside, once a Snottling gets outside, all it wants to do is explore.
The Snottlings, and all of us here at Woodland Whimsy, wish you a joyous holiday season. However you celebrate, we wish you joy, warmth, and light.

Happy Friday! Woodland Whimsy will be very quiet this weekend. Both of the other humans who live here have things to do away from home. I will have a weekend of cleaning and creating.

These lovely little mushrooms were photographed on our hike in to see the cabin that my in laws honey mooned in. It was a much shorter hike for us than it was for them. The road that got us close wasn’t there nearly 60 years ago. They got rowed across the lake and dropped off by the outlet of the creek that runs by the cabin. It was a four mile hike from there. Last summer several men got together and put a new roof (hand cut shakes) on the cabin and did some other refurbishing. It is nice that the cabin is not being left to fall into ruin.

Happy Friday! I hope that you have plans for the perfect weekend.

Some lovely mushrooms we found in a dormant patch of huckleberries.

Happy Friday! Do you have something fun planned for this weekend?

I love this little group of fall colored mushrooms. They are quite small and all coming up on top of each other.

Hello, I am a day late with my fungus post. Our router failed and it took us a couple of days to get it replaced and configured. So this week we have have ‘shroom Saturday instead of Fungus Friday.

I hope you enjoy this beautiful little guy as much as I do. I love the jaunty angle of his cap.

I am in the process of making a little chair to use for display purposes. I’ll be adding a paint wash to age the cuts on the twigs. I am trying to decide how best to embellish it. Please let me know if you have any ideas for that.

Happy Monday! I hope that you all had a fun Halloween. Here at Woodland Whimsy, we were over run by barbarians.

Here they are waiting for Nana.

They are ready to go and plunder the neighborhood.
The boys had a great time. They spent all day Sunday asking for costumes and to go “Tweet or treating”. I hope that your day full of all the cute or spooky that your heart could desire.

It has been quite some time since I posted. Our lives here at Woodland Whimsy changed drastically in August. Our two year old twin grandsons have come to live with us for an unspecified period of time. It has been quite the adventure. As you can imagine, it has taken some adjusting to the way things run.

We were able to take the boys to go and visit their great grandparents in Idaho for a week. It was much different from past visits, but we were able to go hiking. I’ll post some photos of that later. These lovely mushrooms were growing in the lawn at my in laws place.
I hope that you all have as spooky a Halloween as you would like it to be.

Happy Friday! I am running a bit late with this post today, but I am getting it done.

This mushroom photo comes from my very own garden! I live in the desert. I rarely have mushrooms growing. This one is quite different from the others I get from time to time.
