It has been very close to a year since my last post. My life has changed drastically since then. For three months, the move consumed all of my attention. We arrived at our new home, I started a more traditional job at the local library, and we started to get settled into our new life. Then my mother in law, who was also a very dear friend, was diagnosed with stage four cancer throughout many of her organs. Everything else that didn’t absolutely have to happen stopped. We were so blessed to be able to be here and be with her through her last days. I cannot recommend Hospice Care enough, should you ever have need of their services. We are working hard to find our new normal. I have finally started working on creating new creatures to inhabit Woodland Whimsy. A huge thank you to all of you who are still here and haven’t given up completely on me.

New Family Member

We are so excited to have a new member of our family here at Woodland Whimsy. Keeta came to live with us a bit over two weeks ago.
Keeta has just turned six months old. She is a German Shepard/Catahoula mix.
She is pretty big. She already weighs over fifty pound and is quite tall.
The other dogs have gotten used to her. Evelyn(my daughter’s dog who is living with us temporarily) will play with her. Keterlyn will sleep with her. Heinrich ignores her.Which is what he does with things he doesn’t really approve of, but knows he has to deal with because they belong to us.
Keeta is a real sweetie, but dealing with a puppy, especially a large puppy, is something we have to remember how to do properly. Puppies chew, and tall puppies can get things from places you think are out of reach.
This used to be Elvin. You have met him here on the blog before, and I still have two other adventures to write about him. I’m not sure how she managed to get him, since he was up high in a room she wasn’t supposed to be able to access, but get him she did. I’m hoping that he can be cleaned up and repaired, but I’m not sure that it is possible. I lost a couple of felted mice as well, but I’m doing better with remembering how very tall she is.
She really is a wonderful dog. My pillows seem to be where she wants to hang out. She tends to jump up there as soon as I move.
We are so happy with our new addition(this photo is when she first came home, I removed that collar pretty promptly). We are her fourth home, including the one she was born in that she left at five week(sad). We are glad to be able to offer her a home where she will be loved and cared for always, not just until someone decides she is too much trouble.
Henry Attends a Birthday Party Part 1

House Hobs by their very nature don’t get out very often. However, our family has several birthdays right around the first of September. Since another family function had most of us in the same general area, which almost never happens. We got together to celebrate some birthdays and Henry wanted to come. It was a breezy day at Lake Tahoe the day of the party.
Henry scrambled up a tree so he could get a good view of the lake. It was overcast, so the lake really had a moody look about it.
Henry was anxious to help blow up the balloons. He got every thing he needed together so he was ready to go.
Henry controlled the flow of Helium as the balloons were filled.
After the balloons where filled with Helium, Henry helped tie them together to make a balloon arch.
My awesome husband posing somewhat unwillingly to display the balloons Henry is helping him tie together. Sadly, it was way to windy to get a clear photo of the balloon arch once it was done.
After getting the balloon arch put together, it was time for a snack. My grandson(who is mean mugging me in this photo) very nicely shared his sandwich with Henry.
In the next blog post, Henry will take a look at the cold, cold lake and presents will be opened.
Fred Goes Fishing

I would like to introduce you to Fred. At a bit under three inches, he is the smallest goblin baby I have seen. I found him in the woods of North Idaho.
When several people in the family decided to go fishing, Fred wanted to go to.
Fred was so happy to be able to go fishing. He loves doing new and exciting things. He couldn’t wait to get the canoe unloaded from the truck and into the lake.
Kyle was a bit chilly, so Fred snuggled into his jacket to help keep him warm.
Bella showed Fred the worms. “Can I eat them?” asked Fred. Bella explained that the worms where used to catch fish.
Finally, the canoe was in the water. Fred jumped in right away and got a good seat. He was ready to go.
Bella showed Fred how to go about fishing. The poles were all too big for him to handle though. He still had a good time watching and thinking about how he could do it too.
Sadly, their luck fishing was not very good. Fred thought that this little perch would make a great feast, but everyone else thought it was too small so it was thrown back.
When they got back to shore(without any fish), Fred found his own pole and tried his luck from the dock. His luck wasn’t any better than the rest of the crew.
When it was Fred’s turn in the restroom before heading home, he saw something up in the corner. He ran out the door. “Please come give me a boost!” I see something up in the corner. Fred said hi to the frog and got a photo take with him. Then it was time to go. Fred was tired and slept in the truck all the way home.
